General Message Board > Spider-Man Reboot!

Is anyone else absolutely thrilled that the Spider-Man franchise is rebooting? I never cared for Tobey Maguire as Peter; he can't deliver a one-liner to save his life, and what is Spidey without smart-assery? I would rather put my unmentionables in a meat grinder than have to look at Kirsten Dunst's hideous, mutated-cheekbone vampire-fanged dogface for another two and a half hours. I got no problems with Sam Raimi. He did everything he was asked to do, and Spider-Man 3 can hardly be blamed on him. That being said, I'm ready for the movies to head in a new direction. The plot for all three Spidey movies was essentially identical: Peter struggles with his responsibilities, a villain discovers his identity, kidnaps Mary Jane (shudder - let her die!), and Peter saves her at the end and everything is hunky-dory. Ok. I get it. Can we move on please?

Um, I hate to be a terrible drag on your parade but isn't that primarily the plot of every Spider-Man story to begin with?

Uhm, NO!......aometimes it's Aunt May.

I agree about toby and kirsten. Toby's delivery is flat and weak, and Kirsten is certainly no Mary Jane. When I saw her billboard in the movie, I wondered if it was just me being too critical.

Tobey's not the best and Kirsten not a great Mary Jane but they SHINE next to Topher Grace's venom.
